Mr. Murid is a marine engineer having half-century of experience in almost every facet and business of the maritime industry. After accomplishing his seagoing career as Chief Engineer, he assumed a broad spectrum of roles in the maritime industry ashore since 1993.

His key specialities include every aspect of marine surveying, ship operation, maintenance, repairs, refits, conversions and vessel acquisitions.

Mr. Murid is the most valuable asset of our organisation and manages our clients in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

Principal Consultant – Maritime Operations

Being a Master Mariner, Capt. Intizar Mehdi has commanded crude oil and chemical tankers for 13 years. After accomplishing a successful career at sea, he assumed a number of key roles ashore in the domain of maritime operations. Currently, he has been practicing marine surveying as an accredited Vetting Inspector of SIRE and CDI since year 2010. His count of successful inspections as SIRE Vetting Inspector and CDI Marine Vetting Inspector exceeds more than 400 and 110 ships respectively.

Apart from his inspiring career achievements, Capt. Intizar Mehdi is also the recipient of a Gallantry Award from the Government of Malaysia in the recognition of his exceptional professionalism and courage he demonstrated to rescue 12 crew members from a sinking ship in Malacca Strait in 1999.

Mr. Akhtar is an accomplished Marine Engineer with a solid experience of 28 years which includes his 5 years of experience as Chief Engineer on board bulk carriers, container and general cargo ships.

His specialities include hull and machinery surveying, maintenance, repairs and refits.

Mr. Akhtar has proven people skills and supports our operation in NSW and Queensland.

Project Engineer

A talented young professional with vast familiarity with products spectrum of marine industry. Having a strong aptitude for problem-solving and attention to detail. Started his career in the oil and gas power generation sector and moved on to shipbuilding industry as per his aspirations, taking this leap through globally recognized shipbuilder Austal in Australia. Having sound knowledge in sustainment of vessels, he is a valuable asset of WAMPEL team.

Recognized as Professional Engineer by the Institution of Engineers Australia and an active member of Royal Institute of Naval Architects and Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.

Commencing his career as seagoing Marine Engineer after a bachelor degree in Maritime Studies (Ship Technology), Mr Sammar Abbas has an accomplished engineering career of 23 years spanning over Maritime, Power Generation and Oil & Gas downstream industries in a broad spectrum of roles ranging from day-to-day operations management at sea and ashore to project management and strategic technical management.

Holding two master degrees in the disciplines of Maritime Engineering and Petroleum Technology, he is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) in three areas of practice, namely Mechanical, Naval Architecture and Asset Management and a publicly listed Professional Engineer at the National Engineering Register (NER) of Australia. He is also a registrant on the registers of ‘International Professional Engineers Australia’ as ‘IntPE (Aus)’ and ‘Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation as ‘APEC Engineer’.

Apart from being a Chartered Engineer in Naval Architecture, he also holds set of top tier qualifications issued by Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), which include ‘Marine Engineer Class 1 (Motor)’ certificate of competency and ‘Accredited Marine Surveyor’ for Domestic Commercial Vessels (DCV) to conduct the statutory surveys in a range of approved survey categories.

In the area of practice of Asset Management, Mr. Sammar Abbas is also formally qualified as ‘Certified Practitioner in Asset Management (CPAM)’ and ‘Certified Asset Management Auditor (CAMA)’.

The Institution of Engineers Australia (Engineers Australia) recognised Mr. Sammar’s lifelong commitment to build continuously the professional excellence as an Engineer and awarded him the status of Fellow (FIEAust). He is also the Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and registered with Engineering Council UK as Chartered Engineer (CEng).
